VS Factory Rolex Daytona 116519LN Meteorite Dial – Full Breakdown

Alright, let's talk about this one. The VS Factory Daytona 116519LN with a real meteorite dial. Not a printed dial, not an electroplated one — an actual meteorite face sourced from RB, fitted onto VS's latest 4131 weighted caseback. This is the new release and honestly, it's one of those pieces that photos don't fully do justice.

The 4131 Update — What Changed from the 4130?

If you've owned or even looked at the older 4130-based Daytona from VS, you'll notice the differences pretty quick. Overall shape? Very similar. But the hour markers tell the story.

On this new 4131 meteorite version, the indices have a black coating layer on top — an ink-type finish rather than the bare metallic silver you'd see on the old batch. Small detail, but it matters. Brings it closer to how gen handles the markers on this ref.

Real Meteorite vs Fake Meteorite — How to Tell

Here's the thing most people get wrong. A meteorite dial isn't just about the colour or the general "look." The real test? Widmanstätten patterns.

These are the cross-hatching lines you see across the surface — almost like someone took a blade to it. They only show up on genuine meteorite material after acid etching. Tilt the watch under light and the pattern shifts, changes tone, catches different angles. That's how you know.

Some factories use electroplating or spray paint to fake the meteorite texture. Looks okay in photos maybe. In hand? Not even close. No Widmanstätten lines, no depth, no play with light. We don't consider those meteorite dials — they're just grey dials with texture.

The one we carry here at vsfwatcheshub is RB's genuine meteorite. Widmanstätten pattern is clearly visible and consistent with how gen pieces look under inspection.

Subdial Finishing

Quick note on the three chronograph registers. They're done in a glossy black — high-polish finish that pops against the raw meteorite texture. Contrast is really well executed on this batch. Gives the whole dial a sense of depth that flat-finish subdials just can't match.

RB Meteorite — Not New to Us

We've been using RB meteorite dials since the 4130 era. Back then people were swapping them onto BT cases, C factory cases, all sorts of builds. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Like, genuinely — some of our longest repeat customers started with that dial.

Now with VS dropping the 4131 weighted caseback, we've seen guys buy an entirely new watch just to move their old RB meteorite face onto the updated case. Sell the old setup secondhand for movement money and call it a day. That should tell you something about how good this dial is.

The old 4130-spec RB meteorite has been discontinued at this point. What we're offering now is the version built for the 4131.

The 4131 Movement — VS Factory Exclusive

So about the movement. This Daytona 116519LN runs a Dandong-made 4131. Right now, VS is the only factory with access to this movement for the Daytona platform. Nobody else has it. That's not marketing talk — it's just the current state of the market. You won't find another factory offering a Dandong 4131 Daytona, period.

Every Dial is Different. Literally.

This is probably my favourite part about meteorite pieces.

Each dial is unique. The Widmanstätten pattern is random — one dial might have a prominent slash across the 3 o'clock area, the next one won't have it at all. You're not getting a mass-produced printed face here. What arrives on your wrist is one of one.

And a heads up — production cycles on real meteorite dials are long. When a batch sells out, restocking isn't quick. Could be weeks, could be longer. Meteorite material isn't something you just order on demand. So if this ref is in stock and you've been thinking about it, don't sit on it too long.

Bottom Line

VS Factory Daytona 116519LN. Dandong 4131 movement. Weighted caseback. RB genuine meteorite dial with proper Widmanstätten patterning. Glossy black subdials. One of the strongest configs VS has put out for this reference.

Justin Cole

Got the ghost Daytona meteorite version from here last week.

Dial looks amazing in natural light and the rubber strap is way more comfy than I thought. Honestly one of the cleanest Daytonas I’ve owned.

Delivery to London took around two weeks. Worth it
