VS Factory Rolex Daytona 126509 Blue Panda Dial — V3 Weighted Edition Honest Review

Alright so I finally got my hands on the VS Factory Daytona 126509 in the blue panda dial, white gold case, V3 weighted version. Been wanting to do a proper breakdown on this one for a while. Lots of hype around it, lots of questions too. Let me walk you through what I found.

Weight — The Number Everyone Asks About First

Let's get straight into it. Weight is THE thing people care about with any white gold Daytona rep. Nobody wants a WG piece that feels like a steel watch on wrist.

I couldn't find the exact weight for the gen 126509 blue panda specifically, but referencing the 18K white gold cement grey dial (full WG) which sits around 208g, this VS V3 weighted edition came in at 183g on my scale. That's roughly a 25g gap.

Now — is that noticeable? Honestly, unless you're holding gen in one hand and this in the other at the same time, you won't feel it. 183g is heavy. Like, genuinely heavy. It's noticeably heavier than a Sub or any steel Daytona you've handled. The thing has real wrist presence.

Why I Think VS Has the Best Weighting Approach Right Now

Here's the thing about white gold Daytona reps — every factory has their own way of adding weight, and most of them come with trade-offs that'll bite you eventually.

I've seen a few different approaches out there and none of them are great:

The coating method. They plate or coat the weighted material to give it a brushed or polished look. Works fine at first. Give it a few months of daily wear though, sweat and oxidation do their thing, and you end up with this rough, pitted, sandpaper-like texture. Looks terrible. Seen it happen more than once.

The steel-wrapped method. High-density metal core inside the bracelet links, wrapped in steel on the outside. Problem is you can never get a perfect seal. There's always a visible seam or welding line on the side of the bracelet. Dead giveaway if someone looks closely.

The structural modification method. Changing link thickness, link length, caseback shape, adding weight blocks inside — basically redesigning parts of the watch to squeeze more mass in. Tons of variations here. Some get the weight closer to gen but they all compromise something else.

VS went a different route. Mixed composite weighted material, no plating, no wrapping. What you see is the actual color of the weighting material itself, finished with proper brushing. No coating to peel off, no seams to expose. It just... stays the way it is.

Yeah it's not gen weight. But compare 25g off to the older versions that were 50-60g light — that's a massive improvement. And you're not gambling on whether the finish will degrade in six months. For me that's the right trade-off.

The Dial Color — Where This Specific Reference Falls Short

OK so here's where I have to be real with you. This is the one weak spot on this watch.

The blue on this dial isn't quite right.

Social distance? Totally fine. Nobody walking past you or sitting across a table is going to clock it. But put it next to gen under good lighting and you'll see it. The blue leans slightly purple, and it lacks that brightness the gen has. The genuine 126509 blue panda in direct sunlight has this vivid, almost luminous quality to it. VS doesn't hit that.

Not a dealbreaker for everyone. But if color accuracy is high on your list AND you want the weighted version, I'd actually push you toward the VS meteorite grey or the Le Mans colorway instead. Those two are extremely close to gen in terms of dial color. Almost spot on.

If you just love the blue panda though and can live with a slight color shift — it's still a solid daily.

Build Quality & Details — Everything Else Checks Out

Dial color aside, the craftsmanship on this piece is consistent with VS's other 126509 variants like the meteorite grey. No obvious flaws jumping out.

Dial details. The three red subdial rings are color-accurate. Minute track printing along the edge is clean, no visible color mismatch. The sunburst pattern on the dial is well-defined and matches the style of the gen — the genuine piece has this same type of radiating texture so there's no discrepancy there. Solid center pinion, crisp text printing throughout.

Bezel. Font engraving on the ceramic bezel is clean. Spacing between the black tachymeter markings and the inner edge of the bezel is well-proportioned. No complaints.

Bracelet finishing. Brushed lines are sharp and defined. Side edges show a smooth, rounded polishing transition. Inner links have the same treatment. Consistent all around.

Clasp. Folding mechanism works smoothly. Corner edges are polished, crown logo shape is accurate, lettering is legible.

Clasp hallmarks and engravings. Open up the clasp and you'll see the serial codes and precious metal stamps. Here's where it gets a little nitpicky — the Helvetia head (dog head hallmark) and the balance scale stamp aren't as raised or as rounded as gen. The engraving is slightly thinner and shallower. Gen has deeper, more three-dimensional strikes. The lug engravings and AU750 marking on the other hand are done with deeper cuts and look proper.

To be fair, this is a known gap. VS hasn't nailed the clasp interior hallmarks to gen level yet on any of their WG Daytonas. Minor thing in the grand scheme but worth noting if you care about those details.

Bottom Line

So is the VS Factory Daytona 126509 blue panda worth it?

Mostly, yes. The V3 weighting is stable and won't degrade on you. 183g gives it proper heft. Build quality across the board is solid — dial finishing, bracelet work, bezel, clasp — it's all well-executed and on par with VS's best white gold Daytonas.

The catch is the dial color. If that blue-purple shift bugs you, go meteorite grey or Le Mans. But if you want the blue panda look and aren't planning to put it side-by-side with gen anytime soon, you'll be happy with this one.

Adam Blake

This blue Daytona surprised me a bit when I opened the box.

Dial finishing is lovely and the crystal clarity is excellent. The watch feels balanced on the wrist and not overly heavy which I actually prefer for daily wear.

Timing has been very consistent during the first week.

Arrived in the UK in roughly two weeks. Good experience overall.
