VS Factory Rolex GMT-Master II 126729VTNR — The Precious Metal Sprite Nobody Saw Coming

So VS dropped a new GMT and I need to talk about it.

This is the Rolex GMT-Master II 126729VTNR — precious metal case, green dial, Sprite bezel, left-handed crown, Dandong 3285 inside. Not a rehash of an old build. Completely new production from VS Factory. And yeah, it's a looker.

But before I get into the watch itself there's some stuff happening in the rep world right now that's worth addressing real quick.

Quick Word on Clean Factory

You've probably heard. Clean's having problems again. Shipping's gonna be slow for a while.

Every summer man. Every single summer right when demand picks up, something goes sideways. If you're newer to this hobby don't let the panic posts get to you. People saying Clean is done, prices are spiking, grab what you can — that's just noise. We've seen this movie before. They'll figure it out.

Honestly I hope they do. VS having real competition is what keeps the quality climbing. Nobody benefits from a monopoly.

Now if you had something in Clean's after-sales pipeline... look I'm not gonna sugarcoat it. Probably gone. Reach out to your TD and see what options you've got, or just sit tight and wait. Not much else you can do.

Point is — don't let the Clean situation stop you from buying what you want. Subs, DJs, GMTs in steel? VS handles all of that just fine. The gap between these two factories on standard Rolex refs is razor thin anyway.

Alright. The watch.

Dandong 3285 — No Longer a Clean Exclusive

This is the big one so let me be direct.

The 3285 movement inside this VS GMT comes from the same exact supplier that makes Clean's 3285. Same workshop. Same spec. Same quality. That two-year exclusive agreement Clean had? Expired. Done. Now it's open season — VS can use it, other factories can use it, it's no longer some rare golden ticket.

For you as a buyer this simplifies things a lot. You're not picking between a "good" 3285 and a "lesser" 3285 anymore. There's one 3285 and everybody's getting it from the same place. VS GMT with this movement is a blind buy at this point. Don't overthink it.

That Green Though

OK here's where I got genuinely surprised.

I've handled plenty of Sprites. The regular steel ref has that classic bright green-black contrast on the bezel — kinda punchy, very recognizable. This 126729VTNR? Different animal. The green on the ceramic insert runs way deeper. More muted. Think forest green rather than lime green. It doesn't jump out at you the same way.

And then you look at the dial.

The dial green and the bezel green are practically the same shade. They just... blend. On a normal Sprite you can clearly see where the bezel ends and the dial begins color-wise. On this precious metal version that boundary almost disappears. Everything reads as one unified tone across the whole face of the watch. It's a much more refined look than I was expecting from photos alone.

Hard to capture on camera but trust me — in hand, this thing is beautiful.

Build Quality & A Caseback Worth Mentioning

Case finishing, bracelet, endlinks — all solid. This is a mature product line for VS and it shows. No surprises there, no complaints. High-spec parts across the board.

What did catch me off guard was the caseback.

Every other VS GMT I've seen uses a brushed caseback. Standard stuff. But for this precious metal ref they actually tooled up a separate run of polished casebacks — complete with correct engravings and individual serial codes. It's a totally different piece from what ships on the steel models.

That matters. It tells you VS didn't just grab a steel GMT, swap in a green dial and a fancy bezel, and ship it. They went back and thought about the details that make a precious metal Rolex feel like a precious metal Rolex. Back when VS had exclusive access to certain movements they honestly didn't need to try this hard. Everybody was chasing them for stock regardless. Different energy now. Competition's good.

Identifying a Legit VS Build

Current codes shipping on this ref as of mid-July 2025:

Case Code: C7C7S

Movement Identifier: A750

Buckle Code Prefix: 6788Y

One thing — don't rely on these codes forever. Give it a month, maybe six weeks, and other factories will start copying them. That's just how this industry works. VS rotates codes regularly to stay ahead but the clones always catch up eventually. Best protection is still just buying from a seller you trust. Codes are a nice bonus check, not a guarantee.

Left-Handed GMT — The Destro Advantage

This ref is a lefty. Crown on the left side, meant for right-wrist wear. When it's on your wrist the crown faces outward instead of sitting against the back of your hand.

It's a polarizing design on the gen side. Most people look at a left-handed GMT and think it's weird. That's exactly why barely anyone wears one. And that's exactly why it's interesting.

Strap this on your right wrist and go out. I'd say 95% chance you never see another one in the wild. The gen retails for an absurd amount and even among watch guys the Destro layout is a niche taste. With the rep you get all that individuality without the six-figure price tag.

If you've been browsing forums and every other wrist shot is a Pepsi or a Batman... maybe it's time to switch things up.

Final Thoughts

I'll keep this short because the watch speaks for itself.

VS Factory built this 126729VTNR right. Dandong 3285 that matches Clean spec for spec. A green Sprite bezel that's more subtle and way classier than the steel version. Dedicated polished caseback they didn't have to make but did anyway. Lefty crown for anyone bored of the usual lineup.

Summer's the season. Short sleeves, bare wrists, nowhere to hide. Put something interesting on yours.
