VS Factory Omega Seamaster 215.92.46.22.01.001 Deep Black — Hands-On Review

So this one's been on my list for a while. The VS Factory Omega Seamaster 215.92.46.22.01.001, aka the Deep Black. Gen retails for well over $10K. Let's get into it.

The Ceramic — It's the Real Deal

First thing you notice picking this up? Full black ceramic case. Not a ceramic bezel on a steel case — the whole thing is ceramic. It's got this deep, glossy black finish that honestly just hits different in person.

And here's the thing about ceramic that makes it a no-brainer for a daily wear: it basically doesn't scratch. Normal desk diving, bumping into door frames, whatever — you're not gonna see marks on this. Unless you straight up drop it on concrete, it stays clean. That alone is why so many people in the rep community gravitate toward the Deep Black over other Seamaster refs.

Crystal Clarity

Sapphire crystal on this one, and the transparency is nuts. I've handled a bunch of Seamasters at this point and this particular ref just feels like there's nothing between you and the dial. Almost like looking at a naked dial. Hard to explain until you see it side by side with other pieces.

45.5mm — Sounds Big, Wears Smaller

Yeah, 45.5mm on paper sounds like a dinner plate. But trust me, it doesn't wear like that at all.

My wrist is about 17cm and it sits perfectly fine — no overhang, doesn't look ridiculous. If your wrist is on the thinner side, maybe try it on first, but honestly most guys with average to larger wrists will have zero issues. A lot of buyers in the rep community actually go for this specifically because they want that presence on the wrist.

Bezel Feel and Lume

The unidirectional bezel rotates counterclockwise with a really satisfying click. Good resistance, clean detents. The engraved markers on the track are well defined — no complaints there.

Lume is dual-color. Ice blue and green. During the day you barely notice it. But kill the lights and this thing glows like crazy, super bright and easy to read.

GMT Function

This is where the VS Factory Omega Seamaster Deep Black separates itself from most other Seamaster variants. There's a dedicated GMT hand on the dial — 24-hour scale — so you can track a second time zone at a glance.

Pretty useful if you're keeping tabs on different time zones. Or, you know, just cool to have.

Helium Escape Valve

Upper left crown is the HEV — helium escape valve. Standard on serious dive watches. You unscrew it to release built-up pressure after deep saturation dives. Most of us will never actually need it, but it's a nice detail and VS nailed the execution here.

Movement: 8906 GMT Co-Axial

Flip it over.

Through the caseback you get a clear view of the 8906 GMT co-axial movement. Finishing looks solid, the rotor spins smoothly, and all four corners carry the brand logo decoration. For a rep movement at this tier, it presents really well.

Rubber Strap — Soft but Heavy

The rubber strap is ridiculously soft. Like, noticeably softer than what you'd expect. Comfort-wise it's genuinely easy to wear all day.

But then you weigh it.

148.8 grams. Nearly 149g on a rubber strap. Let that sink in. For reference, a Rolex Submariner on a steel bracelet — the Black Sub or the Hulk — comes in around 152g. So this thing on rubber is almost matching a full steel-bracelet Sub in weight. The heft is real. You feel the quality the second you pick it up.

Clasp

Double-push deployant clasp. Nothing complicated.

To open: squeeze both side buttons, fold up, pull the strap out. To close: reverse the steps, press down until it clicks. Simple and secure.

How to Set It

Quick rundown on adjustments for this VS Factory Omega Seamaster 215.92.46.22.01.001:

Winding — Unscrew the crown, turn it upward. That's it.

Date quickset — Pull crown to the first position, turn upward. Two full turns = one date change. No date quickset danger zone on this ref, and you can even reverse-adjust. Though I wouldn't make a habit of going backwards too often.

Time setting — Pull crown to the second position, turn upward to set hours and minutes.

GMT adjustment — Set the GMT hand to the target timezone first (remember, it's on a 24-hour scale). Push the crown back in, then pull to the second position and set your local time. Once everything lines up, push in and screw down to lock.

Pretty straightforward once you do it a couple times.

Final Thoughts

The VS Factory Omega Seamaster 215.92.46.22.01.001 Deep Black checks a lot of boxes. Full ceramic case that won't scratch, a crystal so clear you forget it's there, GMT complication, the 8906 movement, and a rubber strap that's way more comfortable than the weight would suggest. At nearly 149g it's got serious wrist presence without being uncomfortable.

If you've been eyeing the Deep Black — this is the one to go for.

1 customer reviews for VSF Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black GMT 600M Black Ceramic (...

Clay Barrett

It’s a great watch with all the authentic functionality. Despite the ceramic construction it’s a chunky heavy watch on the wrist, but thanks to an amazing strap it’s very comfortable to wear all day. Mine has been a great companion with excellent timekeeping for a couple of years now with no issues.
