VS Factory Panerai Luminor Due PAM00906 Review — Ivory Dial, Blue Strap, and a Whole Lot of Class

So I got my hands on the VS Factory Panerai Luminor Due PAM00906 recently. First impression? This thing is elegant. Like, surprisingly elegant for a Panerai.

Think about what Panerai usually means to most people. Big case. Chunky wrist presence. That whole tough-guy military diver vibe. VS Factory has done smaller Panerai reps before, sure, but those were all sporty pieces — not really something you'd throw on with a dress shirt. The PAM00906 is a completely different animal. Classic Panerai DNA is still there, the crown guard, the cushion case shape, all of it. But the overall feel leans way more towards a refined, business-casual look. Pair it with a suit or even just a clean button-down and it genuinely looks fantastic.

Because of the smaller size and slim profile, I'd call this one a unisex piece. Works on a man's wrist, works on a woman's. Could even be a solid couples' watch if you're into that.

The Gen PAM00906 — Quick Background

Just so we're on the same page about what the gen looks like. Retail on this one sits around ¥45,000 (roughly $6,200 USD). It runs the OP XXXIV caliber, a movement produced by a third-party manufacturer exclusively for Panerai. The PAM00906 belongs to the Luminor Due line — Panerai's answer to "we want thinner and dressier."

Where VS Factory Stands in the Panerai Rep Game

Not gonna sugarcoat it. When it comes to Panerai reps, VS Factory is king right now. Nobody else is even close. If there's a VS version available for the model you want, that's the one you get. Period.

Their QC is tight, finishing is consistently good, and the overall build quality has earned them a solid reputation — not just from us but across the rep community. That said, no rep is perfect. The PAM00906 has a couple of things you need to know about before pulling the trigger.

Thickness — The One Thing You Can't Ignore

Case diameter is 42mm. Thickness on the VS version comes in at about 13mm. The gen? 11.2mm.

That's roughly a 2mm difference. And there's no way around it.

Here's why. VS Factory doesn't produce a clone of the OP XXXIV movement. They're using a P9000-based caliber instead, and that movement is physically larger. The case has to be thick enough to house it. Simple as that. If this 2mm gap is a dealbreaker for you, this isn't your watch. Move on.

But — and this is worth mentioning — 13mm is still on the thinner side for Panerai as a brand. Most of their catalog sits well above that. So on wrist, it doesn't feel bulky at all.

On-Wrist Feel

The wrist presence on this PAM00906 rep is really nice. Sits flat, hugs the wrist well. If you've got a slimmer build, it gives off this kind of understated literary vibe — hard to describe but you'll know it when you see it.

Best suited for guys (or gals) who dress sharp on a regular basis. Suits, blazers, smart-casual fits. If you're more of a streetwear or athletic-wear person with a bigger frame, honestly you'd probably be happier with one of the larger Panerai models. This one is built for a different crowd.

Build Quality Breakdown

Case Finishing — Mirror Polish

The entire case is polished. And I mean polished. The crown guard too. Under any kind of light this watch just catches attention. Shiny, reflective, almost mirror-like.

Downside? Fingerprints. Everywhere. One touch and you'll see it. Comes with the territory on polished cases though.

Dial — Ivory Pearl Finish

The dial is this gorgeous ivory white with a pearlescent texture. It's not flat — there's a subtle granular, almost sandblasted feel to it. Catches light differently depending on the angle. Looks way more expensive than you'd expect.

Printing and Indices

This is where VS Factory's QC really shows. Arabic numeral markers, cleanly printed with solid depth. I checked every single digit up close. No bleeds, no smudging, no inconsistencies. The three-dimensionality of the print is legit.

Lume

Lume is applied on the hour hand, minute hand, seconds hand, and the dot markers around the outer ring of the dial. Those dots in particular — zoom in and each one is perfectly round and full. No sloppy fills. This kind of detail separates VS from the rest of the pack. Real-world lume brightness is actually even better than what photos can capture.

Date Window

Solid depth and a nice oily sheen on the date magnification. Blends well with the pearlescent dial. No complaints.

Small Seconds at 9 O'Clock

There's a subdial at 9 with a skeletonized leaf-shaped hand. Center is lume-filled. Clean execution.

Crown Operation and a VS-Exclusive Feature

Wind it up by screwing the crown. Pull one click out and you're in date-adjust mode. Now pay attention to this part.

To change the date, you rotate the hour hand — two full rotations advances the date by one. This is a feature unique to VS Factory. No other manufacturer has replicated this behavior on their Panerai reps. So if you ever need to verify whether a Panerai rep is actually from VS, this is how you check. Pretty useful to know.

Pull the crown out one more click for time setting. Push back in and screw down to lock. Done.

Caseback and Movement

Solid caseback with a sunburst brushed finish. Engravings have good depth — almost looks like a relief carving. Powered by the P9000 movement.

Rotor Noise — The Other Caveat

Gotta be upfront about this one. When you shake the watch, the automatic rotor is a bit loud. This isn't specific to the PAM00906 — it's a common trait across VS Factory's P9-series movements.

If it bugs you, we can do a noise reduction service free of charge. Won't make it dead silent, but it'll bring the volume down significantly.

Strap and Buckle

Litchi-grain calfskin strap. Soft right out of the box — noticeably softer than the stiffer bamboo-grain straps you get on some other Panerai reps. Blue stitching runs along the edges, matching the blue indices on the dial. Nice touch.

No need to swap this one out for a croc strap, it's comfortable enough as-is. Buckle is a simple pin buckle. Nothing fancy, does the job.

Final Verdict on the VS Factory PAM00906

OK so let me just lay it out plain.

Two things you need to accept:

Issue Details Fixable?
Case thickness ~13mm vs gen's 11.2mm(approximately 2mm thicker) No — movement limitation
Rotor noise Audible when the watch is shaken Yes — free noise reduction available

What makes it worth it:

The dial work is top-tier — printing, lume fills, index alignment, all clean. That ivory pearlescent finish has real visual depth. Full-polish case looks stunning under light. 42mm wears great on pretty much any wrist size. The exclusive date-adjust mechanism is a genuine flex over other factories. And the P9000 runs reliably.

If that 2mm thickness difference doesn't bother you, this VS Factory Panerai Luminor Due PAM00906 is an easy recommend. Doesn't matter if it's for yourself or as a gift — this rep punches way above its weight class in the looks department. Men, women, doesn't matter. It just works.
