So let's get into the PAM02223. New colorway, new dial, and honestly one of the better-looking recent releases.

Size & Wrist Presence

This one's a 42mm. That's the smallest Panerai goes — they only do three sizes: 42, 44, and 47. Now here's the thing. Even at 42 it still wears bigger than you'd expect. The crown guard adds visual bulk. So if you've got thin wrists, I'm gonna be real with you, Panerai might not be your thing. Looks chunky. Almost like a hockey puck sitting on your arm.

But if your wrist can handle it, 42mm is actually the sweet spot for daily wear with a PAM.

Case & Bezel

Full stainless steel on this one — case and bezel both. Panerai does all kinds of materials across their lineup (titanium, ceramic, carbotech, you name it), but this ref keeps it classic with steel.

The bezel has a brushed finish and it's done really well. Grip is tight, no wobble when you rotate it. Case sides are brushed too, four corners chamfered and polished smooth. No sharp edges, won't catch on your sleeve or scratch your skin. Little details like that matter and VS nails them here.

The Dial

White dial with black accents. The contrast hits different — clean but not boring. VS keeps the dial finishing super crisp on this one, no dust, no misalignment, just a well-executed face.

Small seconds at 9 o'clock. Date window sits where it should, properly centered. No crooked frames or anything like that.

Lume game is on point too. They got the dual-color lume right: pip and minute hand glow blue, everything else is green. That's gen-correct. All the hour markers have black surrounds painted around them which really sharpens up the whole look. Hands are clean, properly filled with lume, good edges.

Caseback & Strap

Engravings on the caseback are sharp and deep. The relief sculpture looks proper — not mushy or undefined like you sometimes see from other factories. Strap is rubber, and it's genuinely soft. Way more comfortable than the leather options on some other PAM refs. You can wear this all day no problem. Buckle matches the case with a brushed finish, keeps everything looking cohesive.

Movement & Setting

Inside you get the VS exclusive clone P.900. This is their in-house movement built to replicate the gen caliber, and it's been solid for a while now.

Setting the watch works exactly like the genuine. Open the crown guard, wind it up. Pull to first position — that's your date, controlled through the hour hand. Two full rotations of the hour hand jumps the date once. Works both directions. Pull to second position for time setting. Push everything back in and lock that crown guard down tight. You need it sealed for water resistance.

Look, Panerai has a ton of references and VS covers most of them at this point. The basic shape is always the same — cushion case plus crown guard — but every ref switches things up with different materials, dial details, hand colors. That's what makes each one feel distinct even though the DNA stays consistent.
