VS Factory Panerai Luminor PAM01112 Red Gold — Hands-On Look

Alright so VS just dropped something that caught me off guard. The PAM01112 in red gold. Yeah, red gold — not rose gold. Big difference actually. Let me walk you through this one.

The Red Gold Case

First thing you notice obviously is that case color. It's 316L steel with PVD vacuum plating to get the red gold tone. Now a lot of people mix up red gold and rose gold, and I get it, but once you see them side by side there's no confusing the two. Rose gold has that soft, almost pinkish wash to it. Red gold goes deeper. More copper in the alloy on gen pieces, which gives it that rich, warm hue leaning into actual red territory.

VS nailed the shade here. Not gonna say it's 1:1 because nothing is, but for a rep this is about as close as you're gonna get with PVD.

That Blue Dial Though

Red gold case plus this sunburst blue dial. It pops. Hard.

Color accuracy compared to gen sits around 90%+ which honestly is impressive for blue — blue is one of those colors that's notoriously tricky to match across batches. The lume fill on the indices and hour markers is what really stands out to me. It's not sloppy, not underfilled, not bubbling over the edges. Sits perfectly flush with the surface so you get this 3D effect, almost like the markers are part of the dial itself rather than painted on. Hands are clean too. No complaints there.

Date Window, Small Seconds, Crown Operation

3 o'clock date window — white font on a deep blue background. Font is properly centered and sized, no weird alignment issues. 9 o'clock running seconds doing its thing.

Quick note on setting the time. Pull the crown out, first position lets you advance the date by rotating the hour hand forward — it's not a quickset date, the calendar changes are driven through the hour hand. Important: push that crown back in tight when you're done. Screw it down. That's what keeps the water out.

Speaking of which. Water resistance is rated at 50m, same as gen. Swimming? Fine. Diving? Don't push it.

Movement and Caseback

Flip it over. VS's in-house P9010 clone movement sitting behind a sapphire display back. Crystal is nice and clear — you can watch the balance wheel doing its thing without any distortion. The rotor, bridges, finishing... all visible and all looking proper for this tier.

Caseback engravings are where they should be. 750 hallmark, the Poinçon de Genève dog head stamp, Panerai's precious metal markings. Case serial matches the caseback serial on most units — mine read VB 0028472 on both. Occasionally there's a mismatch in a batch but that's rare. Just double check yours when it lands.

Strap is a deep navy calfskin with a polished finish and pin buckle. Matches the whole blue-and-gold vibe without trying too hard.

Final Take

This is one of those watches that photographs well but hits different in person. The red gold tone against that saturated blue — it's loud but not tacky. 44mm wears substantial on the wrist, 142g gives it enough heft to feel like something without dragging your arm down.

VS has been on a roll with their Panerai line and the PAM01112 keeps that going. If you're into pieces that stand out from the usual steel Subs and Daytonas everyone else is wearing, worth a serious look.

Blue dial + rose gold combo is always mesmerizing. I’m not the biggest fan of gold watches in general, but this one is a different kind of bling and I really love the blue sunburst dial.
