VS Factory Panerai Submersible PAM01324 — Full Ceramic Build, Honest Review

So a customer hit me up the other day asking about the "carbon fiber PAM01324." And I was like... wait, carbon? Where'd that come from?

Turns out a lot of people online keep calling this one a carbon case. Makes sense why — the texture on the case does look like carbon weave at first glance. But it's not. It's ceramic. The case, the bezel, the crown guard bridge — all ceramic. This isn't just a VS Factory decision either, that's what the gen uses. Go check Panerai's own site if you don't believe me: case material ceramic, bezel ceramic. VS matched it correctly.

Here's how you can tell the difference yourself. Carbon fiber cases are crazy light, almost feels like plastic when you tap on it. This thing? Heavy. Real weight to it, that dense ceramic feel. Tap the bezel and you get that sharp ceramic click. Completely different from carbon.

How Close Is It to Gen?

Gonna keep it real — this VS Factory Panerai Submersible PAM01324 sits somewhere around 90-95% accuracy to the genuine piece. That's high. The carbon-weave-style texture across the dial is done really well, and the whole watch commits to that blacked-out aesthetic. Case, bezel, dial, strap, even the caseback and clasp are black PVD coated metal. Full dark warrior mode.

The Tells — Let's Not Sugarcoat It

No point doing a review if I'm gonna skip the flaws. Here's what I found.

Date Window

The date font color runs a bit darker than gen. On the real one it pops more, brighter white. Font size is also slightly smaller — gen fills the date window better. Thickness of the font is close though, that part's fine. Just the sizing is a hair off.

Bezel Numerals

The 45, 30, and 15 markers on the bezel are a touch too thin. Gen has them thicker. The minute track around the bezel is also marginally thinner but that's less noticeable than the numerals. Look at the "TM" text on the dial for reference — if the bezel markers matched that weight, it'd be spot on.

Lume

Color of the lume fill on the dial is correct — it's that grayish tone, not yellow, not green. Matches gen. But if you're being strict about it, the gray isn't quite as deep as the real deal.

Now the round lume dots. Gen has this plump, glossy wet look to them. Like a caviar effect — raised and shiny. VS got the raised dome shape right but the surface is more matte than glossy. You can see the difference when you compare it to some of the lume on the seconds subdial markers which do have a bit of shine. Minor thing, but it's there.

Dial Print

Hour and minute hands — no issues. Color is close, texture is the right brushed matte finish. The yellow accents on the dial are well matched too.

One funny thing though. The SEAL team text under the Panerai branding is actually bolder and sharper on the VS than on gen. The genuine version looks slightly softer, a bit less defined. So VS kinda overdid it here. Honestly won't matter on wrist at all but figured I'd mention it.

Caseback, Clasp, Strap

Caseback is metal with black PVD coating. Clasp same deal — metal, PVD'd black. Strap is rubber. I tried unscrewing the caseback and couldn't get it open after multiple attempts, thing is torqued down tight. No complaints there.

P9000 Movement & Setting Function

VS Factory Panerai Submersible PAM01324 runs the in-house P9000 movement. Biggest strength of this caliber is reliability — it's proven at this point. Power reserve is decent too.

What really matters here is the setting mechanism. Pull the crown out one click and you can adjust the hour hand independently. Two full rotations of the hour hand advances the date by one. Slow-jump date, just like gen. Plus you've got the GMT hand for a second timezone.

Right now VS is the only factory that replicates Panerai's crown-setting functions correctly. Been that way for a while and it's still a major reason people go VS for any PAM.

44mm diameter with nearly 16mm thickness. It's a chunky piece — but that's the whole point. This is a tool watch built for bigger wrists. If you've got a larger frame, this thing sits perfectly.

My wrist is about 16.5cm and it wears a touch big on me. But honestly if you're into that bold oversized look, it works even on smaller wrists. Long as the lugs aren't hanging off the sides you're good. I've worn 44mm Panerai before and never had an issue pulling it off. Just gotta own it.

Final Take

VS Factory Panerai Submersible PAM01324 nails the important stuff. Ceramic case is correct to gen, P9000 runs smooth with proper crown functionality, and the blacked-out look is genuinely cool on wrist. The tells are minor — date font slightly small, bezel markers a bit thin, lume dots missing that wet glossy finish. Nothing that'll get called out. If you want a ceramic PAM with that murdered-out vibe, the 1324 from VS is solid.
