VS Factory Omega Seamaster 300 "Black Black" Full Ceramic 210.92.44.20.01.003 — Hands-On Review
So this one's been on my radar for a while. The VS Factory Omega Seamaster 300 full ceramic in the all-black "Black Black" colorway, ref 210.92.44.20.01.003. If you've been trying to get your hands on one, you already know — it's been out of stock forever. This latest batch finally dropped but the numbers are tiny. Barely enough to go around.
Now a few factories make this ref. SBF has a version. OR Factory does too. But honestly? None of them come close to what VS puts out on the Seamaster line. Doesn't matter if it's the 150, 300, or 600 — VS owns this series. The finishing is better, the movement is more reliable, full stop. That's not hype, that's just what the QC feedback consistently shows.
Let me break down what I found on this piece.
The Case — All Ceramic, Done Right

First thing you notice picking this up: the weight and feel of full ceramic is just different. The bezel has this textured matte finish with a subtle sandblasted grain to it. Catches light beautifully. Hard to describe in words honestly, it's one of those things that looks way better in person than in photos.
The case sides — and this is where a lot of reps fall short — have really clean brushing. We're talking fine, consistent lines on a ceramic surface which is not easy to pull off. The polished sections sit right next to the brushed areas and the transitions between them are sharp. Four corners are all properly finished, no rough edges. You can run your finger along and it's smooth.

Dial

The dial is ceramic too, with that signature wave pattern. Color-wise it's not a flat black. There's a slight grey undertone to it, almost like a dark charcoal that shifts depending on how light hits it. It's subtly different from the bezel color and that contrast gives the watch some depth.
Indices and printing are crisp. Really crisp. The text has genuine dimension to it — raised, not just printed flat. Under direct light the wave texture kind of dances. VS nailed this part.
Lume Situation
OK so here's the thing. This is the Black Black variant which means the lume plots have a black coating over them. That's how it's supposed to look — keeps the all-dark aesthetic clean. But it does mean the lume output is noticeably weaker compared to other SM300 colorways.
If bright lume is a dealbreaker for you, go with the standard version where the lume plots are left white. Way stronger glow on those.
That said, hit this one with a flashlight for a few seconds and it does charge up and glow. Not dead lume by any means, just not a torch on your wrist. The lume application itself is neat — every plot has a clean border around it, no bleeding or spillover. That's a detail a lot of people overlook but it matters.

Hands and Crystal
The hands have an interesting finish. Not straight silver. More of a gunmetal grey that shifts — looks almost black from certain angles, then flashes silver when the light changes. Kinda cool actually.
Crystal has a slight dome to it. Good transparency. There's a light blue AR coating that cuts glare without looking too purple or too thick. The pip at 12 on the bezel is also nicely done, clear and luminous.
Crown and HEV

Left side — that's your helium escape valve. Leave it screwed down. Don't mess with it. Keep it tight and the watch maintains its water resistance. And yes, you can actually swim with this one.
Right side crown unscrews and pops out one click for winding. Smooth action, nothing gritty.
Strap and Clasp
One thing to know upfront: this ref only comes on rubber. No bracelet option for the full ceramic version. Makes sense when you think about it — the clasp area takes a lot of mechanical stress from the spring bars. Ceramic would crack there eventually. So VS went with a black-coated steel clasp instead. Smart call.
All the engravings on the clasp are present and clean.
Quick reminder since some people ask: ceramic is hard but brittle. Drop this on tile or concrete and you could be looking at a crack. Wear it, enjoy it, just don't treat it like a G-Shock.
Caseback

Flip it over. Engravings are deep and sharp. Brushing on the caseback is fine and even, all four corners smoothed down — no rough spots catching on your skin. Every marking that should be there is there.
Movement — This Is Where VS Pulls Ahead
Under the display caseback sits a 2824-based movement with a decorated bridge plate made to replicate the look of the gen Cal. 8806. And here's a key difference between VS and OR Factory that doesn't get talked about enough.
VS actually engraves the markings into the movement plate. You can see the depth. OR? They just print it on the surface. Flat. Up close, it's obvious which one looks more convincing.
VS has also added the small screw details on the rotor and bridges across all their SM300 movements now, which brings it closer to gen appearance through the caseback window.

But the bigger issue isn't cosmetic — it's reliability. OR Factory cuts into the 2824 base movement to create a skeletonized look through the display back. That modification compromises the movement. Real-world failure rate on OR pieces is rough. We're talking seven or eight out of ten coming back for repair. That's not an exaggeration, that's based on actual returns we see.
VS takes a different approach. They keep the movement plate solid. Does that mean the display back view isn't a perfect 1:1 match to gen? Yeah, slightly. But the trade-off is a movement that actually runs reliably day in and day out. And honestly, the visual difference is minor enough that nobody's calling it out on wrist.
One quirk worth mentioning: since this model has no date function but the base 2824 does have a date position, you'll feel a ghost date position when cycling through the crown. Doesn't affect anything. You never need to use that position during normal wear, and since the movement is automatic, you rarely need to manually wind it anyway. Non-issue.
What VS Doesn't Skimp On
Here's a detail that surprised me. VS uses ceramic for the internal case components too — not just the visible exterior. Some other factories cut costs here and use black-coated steel inserts where you can't easily see. VS didn't do that. The balance wheel finishing in black is also well done.
From the bezel down to the inner case parts, VS kept everything consistent. No corner-cutting. That probably explains why this ref stays permanently sold out.
Final Take
The VS Factory Omega Seamaster 300 Black Black 210.92.44.20.01.003 in full ceramic is genuinely one of the strongest reps in this category right now. The matte ceramic bezel, the wave-pattern dial, the brushing and polishing work, the reliable movement — it all adds up.
Two things to keep in mind though. Ceramic doesn't forgive drops. And the blacked-out lume is intentionally subdued. Neither is a flaw really, just the nature of this particular ref.
If you've been on the fence about which factory to go with for the SM300, VS is still the answer. Got questions? Reach out to us at vsfwatcheshub anytime.
