VS Factory Omega Seamaster 007 Spectre 233.32.41.21.01.001 — Hands-On Breakdown

So this one's been on my list for a while. The VS Factory Omega Seamaster 233.32.41.21.01.001 — yeah, the Bond watch. Spectre. The steel bracelet super clone version. Finally got around to doing a proper write-up on it.

What Came Before VS

Before VS dropped their version, you basically had two options: XF and MKS. Both running generic decorated movements, the balance wheel placement was off, and the movement finishing... let's just say it wasn't fooling anyone who's ever cracked open a gen caseback.

That's changed now.

The VS version runs their in-house Cal.8400 clone movement. If you're already familiar with the VS 8500, it's the same platform — 8400 just skips the date complication while the 8500 has it. Simple as that. What matters here: the balance wheel sits at 6 o'clock exactly where it should be. Black balance wheel, black screws. Twin barrel setup pushing roughly 60 hours of power reserve. It's honestly a big leap from what the other factories were putting out.

Dial Work and the Details That Count

41mm case diameter. VS re-tooled the dial molds from scratch for this ref, and it shows.

They went with a sandwich dial construction — same concept you'd see on a Panerai — where the indices sit on a lower layer underneath the main dial surface. Lume fill is clean and even throughout. The hands have a nice rounded finish to them, no rough edges or sloppy polishing. Honestly better than what I expected at this price point.

Ceramic Bezel

Bi-directional ceramic bezel. The thing that caught my attention though? The gap between the bezel insert and the case is tight. Really tight. None of that wobbly play you get with some reps where the bezel feels like it's floating. This one clicks firm and sits flush.

Crown and Case

The crown comes with a blue protective film on it — peel it off with your fingernail when you get it. That's how you know it hasn't been handled or worn before shipping.

Movement Through the Caseback

Flip it over and you get a clear view of the 8400 through the display back. The finishing holds up under scrutiny. Functional components, steady balance wheel action. Not just decorative — this movement actually works the way it looks like it should.

Bracelet and Clasp

Fresh out of the box, the bracelet still has its plastic wrap on all the links. On the clasp there's the 007 engraving which is a nice touch for this specific ref.

Inside of the clasp is brushed. There's a PUSH button for micro-adjustment — press it and you can fine-tune the bracelet length on the fly. Works exactly like gen. Super handy if your wrist swells up during the day or you're switching between wearing it over a shirt cuff versus bare skin.

NATO Strap Option

You can also pair this with a NATO-style fabric strap featuring the Omega logo. The texture and feel on this one is noticeably better than the typical NATO straps floating around the rep market. Smoother, more refined. If you're thinking about grabbing one, order it together with the watch — you'll save a bit versus buying it separately later.

How to Operate It

Screw-down crown, so you unscrew it counter-clockwise first. Then:

  • Wind it by turning clockwise
  • First pull position — quick-set the hour hand independently (same as gen)
  • Second pull position — standard time setting

One thing worth mentioning. Pull the crown out and the seconds hand stops. Hacking seconds. The older reps from other factories running Miyota or Citizen-based movements couldn't do this. It's a small thing but if you're someone who likes to sync your watch precisely, it matters.

On the Wrist

For reference, on a 17.5cm wrist the 41mm case wears just right. Not too bulky, not disappearing either. Versatile enough for daily wear or dressing up.

That about covers the VS Factory Omega Seamaster 007 Spectre 233.32.41.21.01.001 steel bracelet edition. The movement accuracy, dial execution, bezel tolerances — it all adds up. For this particular reference, VS is basically the only game in town right now if you want something that actually holds up to a closer look.
