VS Factory Omega Seamaster 300M 210.32.42.20.01.001 – Hands-On Review

Alright so this one needs no introduction really. The VS Factory Seamaster 300M ref 210.32.42.20.01.001 has been one of the hottest reps in the game for a while now, and honestly the hype is justified. I've had this piece in hand and want to break down what makes the VS version sit at the top.

Case Dimensions & Build

VS went full 1:1 on the case dimensions here. 42mm diameter, roughly 13.5mm thick — matches the gen spec sheet. On wrist it wears exactly how you'd expect a Seamaster 300 to wear. Not too chunky, good presence without being obnoxious. The 42mm sweet spot that works for most wrist sizes.

The Bezel & Dial Details

This is where VS really earns their reputation. The unidirectional ceramic bezel — the clicks feel solid, the markings are crisp, color is spot on. But let's talk about what everyone actually cares about: the wave dial.

That signature wave pattern on the Seamaster 300 is probably the single hardest detail to replicate convincingly. VS nailed it. The depth of the grooves, the way light plays across them at different angles. Side by side with gen? You're splitting hairs.

Lume plots on all the hour markers from 12 through to 11 are well done. Good charge, decent glow that actually lasts. The pip on the bezel lights up too. No complaints there.

Crystal

Sapphire glass. Clear, no distortion, takes a beating without scratching up. Pretty standard for VS at this tier but worth mentioning — some factories still cheap out on the crystal even on their "best version" pieces. VS doesn't.

Movement & How to Operate It

Under the hood you get VS's clone 8800 movement visible through the display caseback. The finishing on the rotor and bridges looks the part through the window.

Quick rundown on operation if you're new to this ref. The crown is screw-down — unscrew counterclockwise and it pops out on its own. Fresh out of the box with no power reserve built up, you'll want to wind it clockwise about 30 to 40 turns manually. Pull the crown to the first position and you can set the date window at 6 o'clock. Pull it out one more click for time setting. Push it back in when you're done and screw it down until it locks. Simple stuff.

Water Resistance

Rated at 100 meters. Swimming, washing your hands, getting caught in the rain — all fine. I'd still recommend having the gaskets checked periodically though. Seals degrade over time on any watch, rep or gen, so just keep that in mind if you're actually taking it in the water regularly.

Final Take

The VS Factory Omega Seamaster 300M 210.32.42.20.01.001 is about as good as it gets right now for this reference. Wave dial execution, ceramic bezel quality, the clone 8800 with display back — it all comes together. If you've been going back and forth on which Seamaster 300 rep to pull the trigger on, this is the one. Not even a close call honestly.

The ceramic bezel is done right - white enamel diving scale that won't fade or turn yellow over time. The lume is correct dual-tone, minute hand and bezel pip glow green while hour hand and indices glow blue. I compared it to pics of the retail and the wave dial reflections look the same in sunlight. Black on black with the rubber strap is a stealthy combo, perfect for everyday.

Been using mine over a year now, daily use everyday. Even went swimming in pools and the ocean with it. Crazy quality. The wave pattern on the black dial catches light in a way that makes it look expensive. The bezel action is satisfying and clicky with minimal backplay. On rubber it's light and balanced - 42mm sounds big but the lug-to-lug is reasonable and it fits my 6.5 inch wrist no problem.

Watch is great, but I hear the rotor every time I move my arm lol. It can be slightly louder than the real movement in a quiet room due to the ball bearing system. I had a friend's authentic Seamaster next to mine and honestly the rotor noise is similar - even the real 8800 caliber is known for being loud because of the ceramic ball bearings. Not a dealbreaker but worth knowing if you're coming from something silent.

The movement through the display caseback looks very close to the real thing now with the black balance wheel. Older versions used a gold/brass wheel which was an instant tell, but this one fixed that. Quick-set date works exactly like the authentic - pull crown to first click, rotate counterclockwise, date changes. Crown rotation is smooth too. Only thing missing on the movement is the Si 14 engraving on the balance arms but you'd need a loupe to notice that.

Had an issue where the date started getting stuck halfway when changing between 10-23. Numbers 1-9 were fine. Hacking the date in position 2 worked but the quick-set was messed up. Seller offered warranty repair but shipping back to China is a hassle. The watch itself looks amazing but if you get a bad movement you're kinda stuck dealing with international shipping for fixes.
