VS Factory Omega Seamaster 150M 231.10.42.21.01.002 — The "Bumblebee" Rep Done Right

Hey guys, vsfwatcheshub here. This one's been on my desk for a bit and I finally got around to doing a proper write-up. We're looking at the VS Factory Omega Seamaster 150M 231.10.42.21.01.002 — better known in the rep community as the "Bumblebee." Pretty obvious where the nickname comes from once you see those black and yellow hands. Looks like a bee. That's it. That's the whole story.

Let's get into it.

Dial Texture and Logo

The dial on this thing has a vertical stripe pattern, and VS nailed the line work here. Clean cuts, no rough edges, the grooves catch light nicely at different angles.

Omega logo on the dial is applied metal, not printed. You can see depth from the side. Small detail but it matters — flat logos are an instant tell on cheaper reps.

The Hands — Why Everyone Calls It the Bumblebee

OK so this is the whole point of this watch. The black and yellow lacquered hands. VS did these with a rounded, almost 3D profile which is exactly what you want. Cheap versions look flat and plasticky. These don't.

Lume application on the indices is thick and slightly overfilled — and before you think that's a flaw, the gen actually does this too. Indices themselves have real heft to them. Not paper thin.

That yellow against the black dial just hits different. It's the whole personality of this ref and VS clearly understood the assignment.

15,000 Gauss Marking

There's a "15,000 GAUSS" print on the dial. On the gen this represents the antimagnetic rating — it's a signature design element of this particular Seamaster reference. VS replicated the font, positioning, and that yellow color pretty faithfully. No complaints from me on this one.

Date Window

Date window alignment is good. No frame separation from the dial, which is something you see go wrong on lesser builds. The date font has decent depth to it. Not the strongest point of the watch but nothing to call out either.

Grabbed my calipers for this:

Dimensions match gen. 41mm wears really well on most wrists — not too big, not disappearing under your cuff.

Lume Shot

All blue lume across hands and indices. Even distribution, decent charge time. Nothing wild to report but it does the job.

Case Finishing

Brushing on the case sides is where VS tends to do well and this piece is no exception. The tiny Omega logo on the case is sharp and properly sized. Overall finishing is what you'd expect from VS at this point — consistent.

Movement: VS 8508 Co-Axial

Flip it over. You're looking at VS's decorated 8508 movement through the display caseback. Compared to the 8500 or 8900 variants VS has done, it's mostly a designation difference — the architecture is largely shared.

Double-T shock absorbers visible, rotor spins smooth, the finishing on the auto bridge is reasonably clean. You can actually sit and watch the balance wheel do its thing through the sapphire back.

One functional detail worth mentioning. When you pull the crown to set the date, it operates independently from the time setting — just like the gen. A lot of reps out there with basic clone movements only let you advance the date by cycling through hours. VS actually sorted this out. Small thing but rep nerds notice.

Bracelet and Clasp

Three-link bracelet. Center links are polished, outer links brushed. The contrast looks sharp and the transitions between finishes are clean.

Clasp has interior engraving, good snap when you close it. Butterfly-style double push release with Omega branding on top. Wrist feel is solid — no rattling, no loose links out of the box.

On the Wrist

41mm at this thickness sits perfectly. Not top-heavy at all. The Bumblebee colorway really pops in person — it's one of those watches that looks kinda subtle from a distance but anyone who knows watches will immediately clock the yellow accents. Gets more attention than you'd think.

Bottom line — the VS Factory Omega Seamaster 231.10.42.21.01.002 Bumblebee checks the boxes that matter. Dial texture, hand finishing, the 15,000 Gauss detailing, independent date function on the 8508. If you're into the Seamaster line but want something with a bit more visual punch than the standard black or blue configs, this ref is worth a serious look.
