Someone did a full teardown of the APS 69385 movement and it's a total copy in every part. Not a modified 7750 with extra custom parts — they went and copied everything. Quality of parts is above ETA level. The movement was pretty clean by these standards and came well lubricated. Amazing what's possible for the price of the whole watch.
IWC knows how to do blue sunburst dial. Even my wife who knows nothing about watches was drawn into the blue dial on this one. When set next to the regular black dialed 3777, there was no comparison. The subdials are recessed slightly with a circular texture that gives them visual contrast against the rest of the dial. Got it on the bracelet and super glad I did, almost went with the strap just to save a few bucks and that would've been a huge mistake.
The 69385 clone movement is what sold me on this. Chronograph functions well and resets cleanly to zero. On the timegrapher it shows 0-5 seconds fast depending on position, but on my wrist it's been dead accurate so far. Couldn't believe I'd see a proper IWC clone movement like this — the older 7750-based ones were ticking time bombs.
It's hefty, not for those after a watch that disappears on the wrist. With 53mm lug to lug you'd think it wears huge, but the angle of the lugs curve down dramatically making it comfortable on my 7 inch wrist. Wrist presence was a major factor for why I bought it. The whole case is brushed except for the thin bezel around the crystal and the beveled edges — polished details that make the watch sparkle.
