VS Factory Omega Constellation 123.20.38.21.52.001 — Hands-On Review

Look, if you've spent any time in the rep community, you already know the Constellation is one of Omega's most iconic lines. Clean design, dressy but not over the top, and that unmistakable bezel with the claws. Today I'm going over the VS Factory version of the Omega Constellation 123.20.38.21.52.001 in 38mm rose gold — and honestly, this one's hard to fault.

Build & Materials

38mm case. 316L stainless steel. The gold tone parts? PVD vacuum plating — holds up well and doesn't look brassy the way some cheaper reps do after a few weeks. Sapphire crystal on top, so you're not worrying about scratches from daily wear.

Function-wise it's straightforward: hours, minutes, seconds, date window. Nothing fancy. That's kind of the whole point of a Constellation though — it's supposed to look effortless.

The Dial. This Is Where VS Pulls Away.

Alright so here's where it gets interesting. The dial on this thing has a sunburst brushed finish radiating outward from the star logo at 6 o'clock. Under light it just comes alive. Every single line traces back to that star. It's one of those details you don't appreciate until you actually hold it and tilt it around.

The diamond hour markers are all seated properly — no crooked stones, no uneven gaps. Hands are brushed and plated without any visible flaws or rough edges. The 18K gold Omega logo on the dial is crisp. Bracelet finishing, link transitions, all of it is just... dialled in. Pun intended.

The 8500 Movement — And Why It Matters

This is the real reason people pay more for VS. Their 8500 one-piece movement is genuinely in a different league compared to what 3S Factory, TW Factory, or anyone else is putting out right now.

Here's what sets it apart:

  • The decorated rotor and bridges visible through the display caseback actually match gen layout
  • Dual trapezoidal shock absorbers — nobody else replicates this
  • Black balance wheel — a dead giveaway detail that only VS gets right

Yeah it costs more. But if you want that "is it real?" factor when someone flips your watch over, there's really no alternative at the moment.

Quick Way to Tell If Your Watch Is Actually VS

Super easy test. Pull the crown out one click — you should be able to adjust the date independently without moving the hands. That's how the real 8500 works and that's how the VS movement works too. Other factories can't do this because they don't have the integrated movement. Period.

Full crown operation:

Crown Position Function
Pushed in (default) Wind the mainspring — turn clockwise
Pulled out 1 click Adjust date only
Pulled out 2 clicks Set time (clockwise recommended)

If your watch can't do the one-click date adjust, it's not VS. Simple as that.

On the Timegrapher

Threw it on the machine before shipping out. Amplitude steady, beat rate consistent. No complaints. VS has always been solid on QC and this piece is no exception.

Bottom Line

The VS Factory Omega Constellation 123.20.38.21.52.001 in rose gold is about as good as it gets for this reference. Dial work is top tier, the 8500 movement clone is unmatched, and the overall fit and finish just feels right on the wrist. If you're considering a Constellation rep and you're debating between factories — don't overthink it. Go VS.
