VS Factory Omega Seamaster 600M 215.30.44.22.01.001 — The Tai Chi Bezel, Hands-On

Alright let's get into it. Got the VS Factory Omega Seamaster 600M on wrist today, ref 215.30.44.22.01.001 — the Tai Chi bezel version. This one's actually been out for over two years now but VS went dark for like a year plus, and they only recently came back online. So I never got around to doing a proper write-up. Figured now's a good time to revisit it and see how this thing holds up against what's out there today.

Case & Crystal

Full 316L stainless steel build. Sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel. The crystal clarity on this — VS nailed it. Super transparent, almost like there's nothing there.

Quick side note on that. I see people talking about swapping AR coatings on gens to get that "high transparency" look and honestly I'm against it. Gen uses a high-tenacity crystal, not a high-transparency one. Two completely different things. You want to see what real high-transparency looks like? Look at this VS crystal. That's the standard.

Dial & Date Window

Dial finishing is clean across the board. No rough edges on the hands or hour markers, nothing to complain about really. Date font uses pad printing so it comes out looking more three-dimensional than your typical print job. Date window alignment sits pretty much centered too.

The Two-Tone Ceramic Bezel — No Gap

OK here's the main thing I wanted to talk about. This bezel. Black and white, two-tone ceramic. The old way of doing this was firing the black section and white section separately then joining them together. You'd always get that visible seam.

Not on this one. Zero gap. VS was the first rep factory to pull off a seamless two-tone ceramic bezel insert.

Yeah I know — CF and Clean have caught up since then. Feels normal now. But remember this dropped over two years ago. Those other factories only cracked it recently. Says a lot about the tech gap between factories.

Bracelet & Clasp

Bracelet finishing is solid, nothing crazy but clean. The clasp has an adjustable extension — push and pull, that's it. There's also a micro-adjust link built into the clasp. Feels good on wrist. Pretty standard stuff for VS at this point, they do this across their Omega lineup.

Dimensions

SpecOfficialMeasured
Case Diameter43.5mm43.2mm
Thickness16.3mm

Dimensions are on point. Wears well on a 18cm wrist, doesn't feel oversized or awkward at all.

Lume

Seamaster lume has always been a strong point and this one's no different. Hour markers, hands, 12 o'clock pip — all lumed up. One thing people always ask: why does the 10-minute marker glow a different color? That's not a flaw. Gen does the exact same thing. It's by design.

Movement: VS In-House 8500

Under the hood it's the VS 8500. I already know someone's gonna say "but the gen is 8906." Yeah. VS basically just changed the bridges and engravings. Core architecture is still the 8500. And honestly? It's the best movement in any Seamaster rep right now. Rock solid reliability.

Quick rundown on functions — the HEV is decorative only, bezel rotates both directions. Crown unscrews counter-clockwise. Screw it clockwise for manual winding. Pull to first position for quick-set date (rotate hands two full turns to advance one day). Pull to second position for time setting. It's a slow-jump date mechanism.

Final Take

Two years old and this VS Seamaster 600M 215.30.44.22.01.001 still hits. The crystal clarity, that seamless two-tone bezel, overall finishing — all of it holds up against current releases. I'd even say it edges out some of the GMT reps from other factories. One of VS's best pieces, period.

That's it for today.
