VS Factory Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 231.10.42.21.02.006 — White Dial Review

So VS finally dropped the white dial Aqua Terra. Been waiting on this one since the blue version came out — which I covered a while back. Same ref 231.10.42.21.02.006, just a different colorway. Let's get into it.

What's in the Box

You get two strap options out of the box: a stainless steel bracelet and a fabric strap. Nice touch from VS giving you both.

The fabric strap honestly surprised me a bit. Stitching is clean, the inner lining is genuine leather, and it sits comfortable on the wrist. The deployant clasp is the same gen-style folding clasp you'd expect — engraved logo, brushed finishing, crisp stamping. No complaints there. Clasp alone feels solid in hand.

Comes with a warranty card too, customizable with 3 sets of info. Protective film still on when it arrives, which is always a good sign.

The Dial

41.5mm case. White dial with that signature horizontal wave pattern — similar vibe to the Seamaster 300 texture but distinctly AT. Hard to capture in photos sometimes, but in person the depth is there. You get this layered effect from the wave grooves that shifts depending on the angle and lighting.

Lume fill is consistent across all the indices. Hour markers are well polished, hands have a nice finishing to them. Looking through the sapphire crystal the whole thing just pops — good clarity, no distortion. Date window is on the larger side with clear printing. Honestly from the dial side alone, this is a tough call for most people.

Case and Bracelet

Brushed finishing on the case is what VS does best at this point. Grain is even, lines are straight. The bracelet matches that same level — links are tight, no wobble, feels like you'd expect from a top tier rep.

Clasp on the bracelet is gen-style too. Solid hardware all around. Caseback finishing is consistent, no rough edges or sloppy engraving.

Movement: VS 8500

Flip it over and you're looking at the VS 8500 integrated movement. This has been their bread and butter for a while now — proven, reliable, the one everyone recommends for a reason.

Dual barrel setup gives you 48+ hours of power reserve which is more than enough for daily wear. Wind it up and you can see both barrel wheels spinning. All functions mirror the gen.

One tell though — there's an extra post visible in the movement that the gen doesn't have. Other than that, the balance wheel sitting at 6 o'clock position matches the authentic layout.

How It Operates

Crown is screw-down:

  • Position 1 (first pull): Date adjustment. Takes two full turns per day change. Date font looks proper and well aligned. Small thing — the minute hand has a very slight wobble when you're turning the date, totally normal on these. The date change is a slow-jump type, starts prepping around 11-ish and fully flips somewhere around midnight. Same behavior as gen.
  • Position 2 (second pull): Time setting.
  • Screwed in: Manual winding. The winding feel is smooth and light, no grittiness.

One thing worth noting — VS winds the opposite direction from gen for time setting. Gen goes downward, VS goes upward. People ask me all the time if VS will release an updated version that matches gen direction. Short answer: no, they won't.

Water Resistance

Screw-down crown seals tight. Daily water exposure, swimming, all fine. Just don't go crazy with it.

White vs Blue — Which One

The eternal question. Look, the white dial is more understated. Clean, minimal, goes with everything. The blue is flashier, more eye-catching, makes more of a statement on the wrist.

There's no wrong answer here. I get asked this constantly and my response is always the same — just go with whichever one you're drawn to. Both are solid reps from VS. Don't overthink it.

Final Thoughts

The VS Factory Omega Seamaster 231.10.42.21.02.006 in white is a strong addition to their Aqua Terra lineup. Wave dial texture looks great, case finishing is on point, the 8500 movement has a track record, and the water resistance holds up for real world use. If you've been eyeing the AT line but wanted something a bit more low-key than the blue — this is it.
