Gorgeous dial. That green sunburst on yellow gold is just a head turner. This is basically the John Mayer Daytona that goes for over $120k on the secondary market. Was worried about gold plating looking cheap but it mimics the warm 18k yellow gold way better than I expected. Spring bars are fully gold plated, clasp closes crisp and safe.
The green dial on this thing is something else. Vibrant emerald green sunburst, really pops under sunlight and LEDs. Gold tone on the case is warm and convincing too — VSF apparently updated their coating process and it shows. Sits comfortable on the wrist for hours, in a suit it peeks elegantly, in a tee it commands attention. Dandong movement winds smooth with good pushers, upper starts/stops perfectly, lower resets subdials with a nice metallic snap.
Crown winds firm but progressive, builds torque smoothly. Chrono pushers have no slop or mushiness, the Dandong movement integration is solid. Water tested mine to 3 ATM, passed without issues. Only thing bugging me is the slight weight difference from the real thing — it's a steel core after all. But a year ago we didn't even have weighted watches so can't complain too much.
Weighs about 179g which is lighter than the real deal at 208g but heavier than a regular stainless steel Daytona at around 156g. You can feel the weighted construction but if someone who actually owns a solid gold Rolex holds it, they'd probably notice. ZF version is apparently 219g so closer to authentic weight, but VSF has the better gold tone and a Dandong movement vs Shanghai. Tradeoffs I guess.
