VS Factory Omega Seamaster 300 James Bond 007 Limited Edition 210.22.42.20.01.004 — Steel Bracelet In-Depth Look

So here it is. The VS Factory Omega Seamaster 300 James Bond 007 Limited Edition ref. 210.22.42.20.01.004 on steel bracelet. Been waiting to get my hands on this one for a proper breakdown.

VS puts out both a steel bracelet and a rubber strap version. Price differs between the two, but everything else — dial, case, caseback, movement — identical. Gen retails around ¥50,000 (roughly $7,000+ USD depending on where you look), which is about ¥10,000 more than a standard Seamaster 300. That premium? All 007.

The Dial — Absolutely Loaded With Bond Details

Right, let's start with what makes this piece different from every other Seamaster 300 out there.

The dial has this spiral guilloche texture underneath that just pops. Hard to capture in photos honestly but in person it's got real depth. At 12 o'clock the hour marker is unique to this ref — two indices joined together with an arrow tip on top, plus three lume dots. Night visibility is genuinely impressive on this one.

Now here's a cool easter egg. Look at the 50-minute marker on the chapter ring. There's a hidden "50" tucked inside it. Under normal lighting it reads white and you'd miss it if nobody told you. But hit the lights and the lume kicks in blue — that's when the 50 becomes obvious. Nice little touch.

Hands are this warm gold tone. The lume pip ring around the bezel insert matches. Gives the whole piece a slightly dressier feel compared to the regular Seamaster 300 colorways.

Date window sits at 6. VS nailed the font on this — thicker at the bottom, narrower up top. Check the number 5 specifically if you ever need to QC one of these. If the date font looks even top-to-bottom, it's not from VS. Dead giveaway.

Bezel Action and the Limited Edition Plaque

Bezel rotation feels solid. Nice clicks, decent sound, centers well. Some units might have a tiny bit of play left or right — that's just the nature of the tolerance gap — but we adjust these before shipping to get alignment as close to perfect as we can.

On the side of the case there's a gold plaque engraved with the limited edition number out of 7,007 pieces. The two I have here came in at 1688 and 6688. Pretty lucky numbers if you ask me.

Quick note on serial numbers since people always ask. The caseback engraving is relatively unique and repeats are rare from VS. But the codes on the warranty card, movement, and lugs — those do repeat across units. Just how it is. The caseback number though, VS does a good job keeping variation there.

Steel Bracelet — Where VS Really Stepped Up

OK so the bracelet. This is where a lot of reps used to fall short on the Seamaster and VS has clearly put work in here.

Key tell to look for: where the bracelet meets the case, there's a slight raised contour at the endlink. It should be convex, not flat, definitely not concave. Older batches from other factories got this wrong. If yours sits flush or dips in, that's not VS work.

Five-link design with brushed finishing on the outer links. The satin texture, proportions, width — all gen-correct. We've done side-by-side comparisons with genuine bracelets on other Seamaster refs before and the results speak for themselves.

Clasp interior has the 007 engraving with the pistol logo. Solid execution on the details there. Clasp action is smooth — no wobble, snaps shut clean.

The micro-adjust on the clasp works fine too. To close it properly: push the inner part in first, press down, then lock it tight. That's the correct sequence. Doing it out of order and you'll think it's broken when it's not.

Caseback and Movement

This ref is a solid caseback — no display window. The back features a special 007 edition engraved design instead of the usual transparent view of the movement.

One thing worth mentioning. VS now ships with a QC tamper-proof sticker on the caseback. Says "quality inspection passed" on it. Once you peel it, it's destroyed — can't be reattached or faked. This is currently the most reliable way to verify a watch came directly from VS factory. No other factory does this yet. So when your watch arrives, check the clasp, test the time-setting, make sure everything is good BEFORE you remove the sticker. Once it's off, returns aren't possible — after-sales service only. Just want to be upfront about that.

Movement inside is an ETA 2824 base decorated with 8800 plates. Not an in-house clone. VS went with the 2824 for a specific reason on this ref — the balance wheel position sits at 12 o'clock on the gen 8800, and the 2824 conversion matches that layout more accurately. Even though it's a solid caseback and you won't see the movement day-to-day, VS still put effort into the plate finishing and decoration for the display-back version. Reliability-wise the 2824 base is proven — no complaints there.

Crown and Time-Setting

Screw-down crown. Water resistance on this is legit solid once you tighten it properly.

Unscrew counterclockwise to release. First position is date adjust. One difference from gen here — the genuine adjusts date by rotating downward, VS does it upward. Honestly? Unless you own a gen to compare side by side, you'd never notice. I can't even remember which direction half my watches go. Nobody who sees this on your wrist is going to pull the crown out and test the date direction. Just not happening.

Second position is time-setting. Smooth, no issues.

The crown at 10 o'clock is decorative only. On gen it's the helium escape valve. On the VS you can unscrew it and fiddle with it if you want, but just keep it tightened down in daily wear.

What's in the Box

VS does the five-code matching on this one: lug engraving, caseback code, warranty card number, hangtag, and the limited edition plaque on the case side. All correspond.

Steel bracelet version comes with a shipping box. Rubber strap version ships in a poly bag — no box. Both include warranty card and accessories.

Final Take

The VS Factory Omega Seamaster 300 James Bond 007 210.22.42.20.01.004 on steel is one of those reps where everything just comes together. The Bond dial elements are all there. Bracelet quality is where it needs to be. Movement is reliable. The little details — gold hands, hidden 50, pistol engraving on the clasp — they add up.

If you've been eyeing a 007 Seamaster to scratch that itch, this is the one to go with right now. Hit us up if you have any questions on this ref.
