VS Factory Omega Seamaster 300 210.22.42.20.01.004 — Full Hands-On Review

So VS Factory just dropped their take on the Omega Seamaster 300 ref. 210.22.42.20.01.004 and I've been spending some time with it. This one's a bit different from the usual Seamaster reps floating around. Let me explain why.

What Makes This Ref Special

The gen was released by Omega back in 2019. It sits under the Seamaster 300 diver line but it's also the 50th anniversary limited edition tribute to the James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Omega made 7,007 pieces worldwide. That number's not random — 007, obviously.

Because of that Bond connection and the limited production, this ref carries way more design detail than your standard SMP300. And that's exactly what makes the rep interesting.

The Dial — Honestly Pretty Wild

First thing you notice is the propeller pattern across the dial face. There's a vortex swirl in the center with machined grooves running through it. Under sunlight this thing pops. The depth and texture are genuinely impressive for a rep.

The dial surface is zirconium oxide ceramic with a subtle raised texture you can feel if you run your fingernail across it. At 10 o'clock there's a hidden "50" — easy to miss unless you know to look for it. That's the 50th anniversary marker. 12 o'clock gets the classic triangle arrow index.

All the hands and hour markers are done in gold tone. The arrow hand, the lume fill, the fixed outer ring markers — everything carries that warm gold accent. Gives the whole watch a cohesive look without being flashy about it.

Ceramic Bezel and the Enamel-Filled Numerals

Bezel is ceramic. The scale markings use the same enamel fill technique as gen — supposed to be fade-proof, color-stable, all that good stuff. Whether that holds up over years of daily wear, who knows. But right now it looks clean.

The bezel action feels solid. Good clicks, no backplay, grip is fine. Nothing to complain about here.

Crown Operation

Screw-down crown, same as you'd expect. Unscrew and pop it out — push forward to wind. First position is date, second position is time. Standard stuff, works exactly like it should.

Movement: 2836 Decorated to 8800

Under the hood it's the familiar Seagull 2836 with an 8800 movement plate. Gen runs Omega's in-house Master Chronometer 8800 caliber which brought better power reserve and improved anti-magnetic resistance over the older SMP300 movements. VS Factory's clone plate does a decent job visually. Timekeeping has been solid on my end — nothing concerning there.

Look, nobody's buying a rep for the movement specs. But it's nice when it doesn't give you trouble and this one doesn't.

Case Side Details

On the side you've got the helium escape valve — conical shape, just like gen. On the real deal this is functional for saturation diving. When you're ascending from deep water you crack it open to release internal pressure so the crystal doesn't blow out. On the rep it's there for the look.

Also on the case side — the limited edition engraving. Shows "163/7007" indicating piece number 163 out of the 7,007 total run. Below that there's a precious metal hallmark stamp. Worth noting: gen uses precious metal for this section of the case, VS Factory uses 316L stainless steel throughout. Not a dealbreaker but something to be aware of if someone ever takes a close look.

Bracelet vs Rubber Strap — My Take

The steel bracelet that comes with it matches the quality level of VS Factory's other new Seamaster builds. It's fine. But honestly? I think this particular ref looks better on the rubber strap. The gold accents on the dial play nicer against black rubber than they do against brushed steel. That's just personal preference though — your call.

Omega engraving on the clasp, 007 branding, PUSH markings — all present and correct. Clasp engagement feels good.

Caseback

Flip it over and you get the Seamaster family shield emblem. It's recessed into the metal, not just printed on top. Feels legit when you run your thumb across it. The caseback lock mechanism is the same system VS uses on their Planet Ocean Deep Black — solid seal.

Lots of engraving around the perimeter. 300m/1000ft depth rating, serial numbers, the stainless steel marking in English. And then there's the Omega anti-counterfeit logo.

I zoomed in on that logo at about 3x magnification and the detail still holds up surprisingly well. That's not easy to pull off and VS nailed it on this one.

Final Thoughts on the VS Factory Omega Seamaster 300 210.22.42.20.01.004

This is a strong release from VS Factory. But that's kind of expected at this point — their Seamaster line has been consistently good across the board. The SMP300, the 150, the Aqua Terra builds, they've all been hitting well in terms of accuracy to gen, movement reliability, and overall fit and finish.

If the 007 limited edition design speaks to you — the propeller dial, the gold details, the hidden anniversary markers — this VS Factory Seamaster 300 210.22.42.20.01.004 is one of the better options out there right now. It's a lot of watch for the money.
