So I finally got around to doing a proper breakdown of the VS Factory Seamaster 300M (ref 210.30.42.20.01.001). This one's been sitting at the top of the rep game for a while now. For now let's just focus on what VS brings to the table with this piece.

First Impressions & Dial

42mm case. Unidirectional ceramic bezel. Standard Seamaster specs but the execution matters and VS nails it here.

The dial is where things get interesting. VS uses a wave-pattern enamel finish — not printed, actual enamel technique — and you can tell immediately. The depth and dimension on those waves is something flat printing just can't replicate. Every single hour marker has lume fill, and they're all consistent. No sloppy edges, no uneven application. The markers look full and crisp which is honestly one of those small things that separates a good rep from a great one.

Date window at 6 o'clock sits clean. Hour, minute, second hands — no burrs, no rough edges on any of them.

The Clone 8800 Movement

Now the movement. VS runs their in-house clone 8800 caliber in this, a decorated plate movement. I'll save the head-to-head with OR's movement for the comparison piece but just looking at VS on its own — the finishing is genuinely impressive.

All the engravings and printing on the movement are sharp and well-positioned. You've got the balance wheel, black hairspring, dual-T shock absorbers, and counterweight screws all present and accounted for. The level of detail holds up under magnification which says a lot.

One thing worth mentioning. Newer batches from VS have added a small pin detail on the movement. If you're buying now you'll most likely receive this updated version. Some older stock floating around might not have it but going forward it's standard. Not a dealbreaker either way, just good to know what you're getting.

Bracelet & Small Details

Bracelet engravings and serial codes are all done properly. Look, VS has been around for years at this point. They're an established factory. The fundamentals — clasp finishing, link edges, engraved markings — it's all where it should be. No complaints here.

Lume Shot

Had to test the lume obviously. VS does a dual-color lume on this Seamaster 300M that matches gen. The pip and hands glow fluorescent green, everything else — indices, bezel markers — comes through in an icy blue. Strong output, clear color separation. Looks great in the dark.

Final Take

The VS Factory Seamaster 300M 210.30.42.20.01.001 is a solid all-around package. Enamel wave dial, clone 8800, proper dual-color lume — hard to find much to criticize. It's been called a ceiling-level rep for a reason.
