VS Factory Omega Seamaster 300M 210.30.42.20.10.001 Green Dial — Hands-On Review

So VS Factory — or SBF as they're calling themselves now — finally dropped the green dial Seamaster 300M. Ref 210.30.42.20.10.001. I've had it on the bench for a bit and figured it's worth a proper write-up since a lot of people keep asking which version of the Seamaster 300 to actually go for.

Short answer? VS is still the best in the game for this ref. But there's a catch with the green dial that you need to know about before pulling the trigger.

The Movement Situation — Why the Seamaster 300 Is Different

Here's something a lot of newer buyers don't realize. VS Factory uses their in-house clone movements across almost every model they produce — the 8500, 8900 series, all one-piece integrated calibers. Every single VS rep runs on these. Except the Seamaster 300.

Why? Because on the gen, the black balance wheel sits at 12 o'clock. VS's integrated movement architecture can only position the balance wheel between 6 and 7 o'clock. Structurally, they just can't replicate that layout with their standard platform.

So what did they do? They went with a Seagull base movement fitted with decorated plates to match the gen aesthetic. It's not a clone movement — it's a Seagull underneath. This is specific to the Seamaster 300 line only.

Now here's the thing with the green dial version specifically:

The green dial does not have balance wheel screws (free-sprung weights). Everything else is there — black balance wheel, double shock absorber, Geneva stripes, jewels — but no screws on the balance wheel. The black dial version has them. Fully correct to gen on that front.

If you're buying green, this is what you get. Factory ships them this way. No choice in the matter.

Dial and Bezel — Up Close

Green sunburst dial with matching green ceramic bezel. The color coordination honestly looks better in person than in photos.

Few things I noticed right away. The lume plots are recessed into the dial — not sitting on top, not flush, actually sunk in. Depth is correct. The sunburst finishing is crisp and consistent across the whole dial, no rough patches or uneven rays. Hands are clean with zero burrs on the edges.

Date window is trapezoidal-cut, date font sits centered. Lume application is thick and even — you can tell they didn't rush this part.

The bezel is high-temperature ceramic. Genuinely shiny. The indices are engraved and filled with white gold plating, and the lume on the bezel markers is strong. Underneath the ceramic insert there's a brushed finish on the bezel base — practical touch, makes it more scratch-resistant in daily wear.

Click action is sharp with a subtle dampened feel. Not mushy, not too loose. Feels right.

Case and Bracelet

42mm case. Wears well — doesn't feel oversized even on smaller wrists because Omega kept the lug-to-lug reasonable on the gen design and VS replicated that correctly.

The case finishing is that classic Seamaster "sandwich" construction. Alternating layers of polished and brushed surfaces. It's one of those details that separates a good rep from a cheap one and VS nails it here.

Both the case and bracelet are 316L stainless steel. Clasp has the Omega logo engraved — detail work on the logo is clean, edges are sharp, no sloppiness.

At 10 o'clock you've got the helium escape valve — purely decorative on a rep, obviously. Crown at 3 o'clock handles time and date setting.

How to Tell If It's Actually VS Factory

This comes up constantly. People want to know how to verify they're getting a real VS and not some lesser factory's product slapped with a VS label.

Flip it over and look at the movement. That's your answer.

Black balance wheel paired with a double shock absorber system — that's the VS signature. The Geneva striping across the plates, jewel color, 8800 engravings, radial brushing on the rotor — all done properly.

Some smaller factories have started copying the black balance wheel and double shock absorber look. But their shock absorbers are noticeably undersized compared to VS. Side by side it's obvious. If you're not sure, save a reference photo of a confirmed VS movement and compare before you buy.

VS and SBF — Same Factory

Quick note since I keep seeing confusion about this. SBF is just VS Factory's new name. Same facility, same production line, same quality. They rebranded. You might see more products coming out under the SBF label going forward but don't overthink it — it's the same operation.

Bottom Line

The VS Factory Omega Seamaster 300M 210.30.42.20.10.001 green dial is a solid piece. Ceramic bezel work, dial finishing, case construction — all on point. The only real callout is the missing free-sprung weights on the green dial's movement. If that bugs you, go black — the black dial version is fully correct.

For everyone else, the green Seamaster 300 from VS is absolutely worth it. 42mm, date complication, daily-wearable without question. One of the better reps out there right now.
