VS Factory Panerai Submersible PAM01391 — Hands-On Review

So VS Factory just dropped a new Panerai Submersible, the PAM01391. Price sits around 70k+ CNY. 44mm case, which is pretty much the standard Panerai size most people go for.

First Impressions

The colorway on this one really pops. Carbotech-style steel case, blue dial, and that red running seconds hand — honestly looks great in person. The hour markers are round applied indices, slightly different from what you usually see on other PAM refs. Gives it a cleaner look.

How to Tell It's Actually VS

Case back is solid, no display. Movement inside is VS Factory's in-house unit. They engrave different caliber codes depending on which gen reference they're repping — could be 9001, 9010, P9000, etc.

Here's the thing though. Easiest way to verify you've got a legit VS? Pull the crown to position one and adjust the date. The hour hand rotates — takes two full turns to advance the date by one day. Minute hand stays completely still during this. That's the giveaway.

Other factory PAMs? Their date just rapid-fires when you hit that first position. Clicks fast, works in reverse too. Totally different feel. Once you know this trick you'll never mix them up.

VS basically has a stranglehold on the Panerai rep market right now. Most models, best finishing. Not really a debate at this point.

Up Close

Bezel rotates unidirectional. Click action is decent — not quite gen-level if we're being honest, but solid enough that you won't notice day to day. Under macro the finishing holds up well. VS Panerais are pretty much grab-and-go at this point, no need to overthink it.

That red seconds hand has real depth to it. Strap comes with a polished steel pin buckle in silver, matching the gen colorway. Solid caseback engravings are sharp and clean.

Wrist Size

44mm works for most wrists. If you're on the thinner side, maybe look at some of the 42mm refs instead — VS has a massive Panerai catalog so there's plenty to pick from.
