VS Factory Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M "Deep Black" GMT — Full Ceramic Build, Fully Decoded

Alright so VS Factory finally dropped their version of the Omega Planet Ocean Deep Black and honestly — this one hits different. Full ceramic case, real GMT complication, titanium-ceramic deployant clasp. Not your average rep by any stretch.

I've had this piece in hand for a bit now. Let me walk you through what makes it stand out.

The Deep Black Is a Big Deal for a Reason

Here's the thing. Top-tier Omega reps in full ceramic? Barely exist. The material is a nightmare to machine, the rejection rate during production is insane, and most factories just won't bother. VS went ahead and did it anyway — new case molds, new caseback engineering, new clasp tooling. The whole nine yards.

That alone tells you something about where VS is at right now with their ceramic game.

Dial and Ceramic Surface

The dial is full black but it's not flat matte. There's a ceramic treatment on the surface that catches light in this subtle, almost liquid way. Hard to describe until you see it in person. You'll spot the ZrO₂ (zirconium oxide) marking on the dial — same as gen.

Ceramic bezel is unidirectional. The click feel is solid, no wobble, no play. Genuinely satisfying to rotate. Inner chapter ring carries the 24-hour scale for reading your second time zone off the GMT hand.

GMT Function — Does It Actually Work Like Gen?

Short answer: yes.

Unscrew the crown, wind up for manual winding. Pull to first position and you get independent hour hand adjustment — the core GMT feature that lets you hop time zones without messing with your minutes. Pull all the way out for the GMT hand. Set it where you need it, push back in, adjust your local time.

Date works both directions. Forward, backward, doesn't matter. That's a detail a lot of reps get wrong or skip entirely.

One thing worth noting — this runs a slow-jumping date mechanism. So around midnight you might catch the date window looking slightly misaligned for a bit while it transitions. Totally normal. Gen does the exact same thing. If you didn't know that and thought your date was crooked out of the box, now you know.

Case Construction

45mm. Classic Planet Ocean 600M sizing. Wears fine on most wrists unless you're really on the smaller side.

Now the ceramic work on the case — this is where it gets impressive. Check the sides. You've got brushed finishing running along the flanks, then polished chamfers on the edges where the angles break. The transition between brushed and polished is clean. Really clean. No sloppiness, no uneven lines. For ceramic, that's hard to pull off.

The caseback deserves its own mention. This isn't your typical press-fit or screw-in back. VS developed a completely new structure for this particular reference. Looks identical to gen from the outside but the internal engineering was apparently a major headache to get right. Through the back you can see the balance wheel sitting at 6 o'clock — black-coated, matching gen spec. Every unit comes with an individual serial. One watch, one number.

Strap and That Ceramic Clasp

Rubber strap is newly molded for this ref. It's not the fabric-coated type you see on some other Omega reps. This one is solid rubber with the pattern pressed directly into the material. Single piece, no overlay.

But the real flex here? The clasp.

Genuine ceramic deployant. Engraved "Titanium Ceramic" right on it. The combination of titanium and ceramic in the clasp construction follows the gen blueprint exactly. Ceramic clasp tooling is expensive and the failure rate during production is high — which is exactly why almost nobody does it. VS did. Open the clasp up and look at the interior finishing. Flawless is a strong word but I'm using it anyway.

Final Take

This VS Factory Deep Black is sitting at the top of their Omega lineup right now. Full ceramic everything — case, bezel, clasp. Functional GMT that mirrors gen operation. Slow-jump date, black balance wheel, individual serial numbers. The material cost and manufacturing difficulty on this piece are significant, which means production numbers will stay limited.

If you're into the Deep Black or want to know more about what's currently available, hit us up. Don't sleep on this one — once a batch is gone you're waiting.
