AAA is a marketing label sellers stick on anything. In practice it means a generic Seagull or Miyota movement in a case that's a couple of millimeters too thick, with a printed dial and a bezel insert that fades within a year. Super clone means the factory tooled the movement to the genuine caliber's architecture and matched case dimensions to spec. Concrete example: a super clone VSF Seamaster 300 uses the Dandong 8800 with correct 40mm diameter and real ceramic. A BT Speedmaster sold as AAA is a Seagull ST with an extra plate bolted on, measuring 15.3mm against the genuine 13.3mm. Two millimeters is visible on the wrist.

Buy from a dealer who will send you QC photos of the actual watch before it ships, and who tells you which factory made it. If a listing says "1:1 Omega" with no factory named, no movement caliber and no batch version, walk away — that's how people end up with an Ouya Seamaster with a Wuhan movement and a failure rate I've watched destroy repeat customers. Aqua Terra 150M if you want one watch that covers office and weekend — 38mm for wrists under 6.5 inches, 41mm above that. Seamaster 300 if you want the diver look with the strongest build VSF makes; the enameled ceramic bezel, real ceramic dial and dual-tone lume are all class-leading. Planet Ocean 600M if you want size and presence, and note VSF now does a 39.5mm version with the integrated movement that nobody else offers — every other factory's 39.5 is still a modular build. OR Factory is GF reborn, and they came back with an 8806 they had tooled in Shanghai from a genuine Swiss movement. Honest assessment: the Shanghai 8806 beats VSF's Dandong 8806 on finishing. It has fish-scale decoration on the balance bridge where Dandong only does a brushed thread, ceramic ball bearings in the rotor against Dandong's steel, and finer engraving. But OR only has the 8806 — no 8800, so no date models — and their history includes swapping in Wuhan movements mid-run, which produced a repair rate I won't defend. VSF has ten years of consistency. V3 used a 2824 modified into an 8800 lookalike — a modular build with a separate plate. V4 uses the true integrated Dandong 8800. VSF re-tooled the entire case for it: a V3 caseback will thread into a V4 case but leaves a visible gap, and the case codes differ. Bracelets carry over between the two. Practically, the V4 has been out about a year with a materially lower repair rate than V3. Quick visual check — the V4 shows a fully circular skeletonized cutout at the balance wheel, V3 was closed. Measure your wrist first. Under 6.5 inches, take the 38mm — it also slides under a shirt cuff properly, which the 41mm doesn't always do. Above 6.5 to 6.7 inches, the 41mm wears better and won't look undersized. The 38mm Railmaster measures 12.4 to 12.6mm thick against Swiss spec, close enough that nobody will call it. Not on the VSF Seamaster 300 and Planet Ocean 600M. The bezel markings are enameled and fired on at high temperature rather than painted, so they don't chip, yellow or wash out — I have not had a single faded bezel come back across either line. Three, and I check all of them before shipping. First, the crown on the Seamaster 300 strips after roughly eighteen months to two years — usually from being pushed in at an angle. Rock it slightly left and right so the threads catch, then screw down. VSF used to replace crowns free and now charges, so technique matters. Second, Aqua Terra dials pick up handling scratches in assembly and transit that only show at certain angles, which is exactly what QC photos are for.
